INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING APPLICATION
- Before Applying
- Obtain a copy of the job description or vacancy announcement regarding the position for which you are applying from the APA office or website located at www.APAgalv.org under job vacancies.
- Compare your education and experience with the requirements listed on the announcement. If you meet the requirements, proceed with the application process. The vacancy announcement will also contain relevant information about the job, such as duties, special conditions, where jobs are available, the type of exam that may be required, and the closing date.
- Application Tips
- Type or print clearly in blue or black ink.
- Provide all requested information.
- Emphasize your experience and education that relates directly to the requirements of the job vacancy.
- Start with your most recent experience and work backward.
- Return application certified mail, return receipt to:

- Submit application (with all requested information) by 5:00 p.m. on the closing date.
- Submit a separate application for each vacancy announcement unless otherwise instructed.
- Next Step
- You can expect to be notified of your application results approximately three weeks after the closing date.
- Testing – If you have met the requirements and a written exam is required, you will receive an exam schedule notice with further instructions.
- APA Employment Register – Once your application is accepted and you have passed the required exam, your name will be placed on an employment register for one year. Near the end of that year, you may ask to remain on the register for another year by calling (409) 877-3111.
JOB POSTING AND INTERVIEW PROCESS
Job Posting
- APA will post vacancies for a minimum of two weeks
- The job postings will create methods to find the best qualified applicant for a specific job.
- The job posting will provide accurate and appropriate information to applicants about the jobs.
Interview Process
- APA Superintendent/Principal will collect and review all applications based on meeting the key criteria for the job.
- APA Superintendent/Principal will schedule interviews for applicants meeting the key criteria for the job.
- APA Superintendent/Principal will determine who else will interview the applicants and what their role is in the hiring process, particularly if a selection committee is involved.
- The pattern of the interview will be formatted to ensure that each applicant is:
- questioned about the same job-related area,
- allotted the same amount of time to answer questions, and
- given the same test(s), if any.
- Applicants will be notified of APA recommendation for employment within three to four weeks of the interview.
- APA Superintendent/ Principal will recommend personnel to FOCUS, Inc. Board of Directors.
- All recommendations for employment will include three (3) letters of recommendation, completion of a formal application, resume, and a criminal history check.
